Dave Mansfield 2005 Demo Reel
A bread and butter reel of work that kept a roof over my head.

Mortal Skin 2004 Progress Report
This teaser trailer was put together from an assortment of render tests to gather inverstor interest.
Roswell 1947
This short is meant to explain what might have really happened on that lonely deserted desert road back in August of 1947 if there had been a terrible miscalculation of scale... I assembled this piece of absurdity from some left over road kill animation I had done for Richard Elfman's Date or Disaster, a violent parody of extreme dating TV shows.
Programs used: Max 5.0, After FX 5.0, Photoshop 6 w/ Wacom tablet.
Moons of Arksyra Demo (Animation 1 & 2)
This animation was to be the first of six intro movies for a MMORPG (Massive Multi-Player Online Role Playing Game to you non-geeks who don't live this stuff) by Hypernova Games, Inc. The idea was when you start a character you have a choice of either starting off in the home city of the culture you wanted to play or you could do an initiation where you would be taught the rules of playing that culture and be treated to an introductory movie. This movie was for the first culture we developed (A Pirate Dominion) and then the game would begin... This project represents 6 months of work from 13 part-time interns under myself, the Junior Art Director/Lead Artist/Lead Animator/Musician/Audio Guru.
The second piece was a teaser put together during the creation of the main movie.
Your guide to P.E. Tube Surgery
This animation was contracted by the Center for Excellence of Medical Multimedia (CEMM), a division of the United States Air Force, for an educational CD-ROM doctors can hand to parents before their kids get ear surgery to correct chronic ear infecions. All modeling, textures and animation by me. This took me over seven months to get the wax right, and I never ate much if I worked on this before lunch... Good times... Good times...
Fetish: a new scent by Craven Swine
A new marketing campaign? Or just a blow-up doll with attitude? You decide. This is a homework project that just stuck around and grew. Kari and I were laughing so hard while recording the voice track that it took almost an hour to get 30 usable seconds of audio.
Music by my buddy Jeff Danos under the working name of Testtube.
Putri-Fiction: The Movie!
The original idea behind this was a half-baked script about zany demon hunters going to stop a Cthulu-style invasion with armies of the dead. This animation is a montage of a lot of the CG work that was in development before we were going to experiment with compositing live actors and zombies. Life happens while you make plans and I never see these guys anymore...
Occurrence at Solaris Prime
This was my graduating reel from the Associates program at the Art Institute of Colorado, Christmas 1998. It is the culmination of four intense months of beating my will against the computer to get what I wanted, but it was all worth it, I graduated with Best of Show. Programs used: 3DsMax 2.5, Premiere 4.2, Photoshop 3, Soundforge 4.
Lunch: 65 Million BC
I made this animation while attending the Art Institute of Colorado in order to fulfill the requirements for three classes over the course of two quarters in 2000. My boss at the time let me use his render farm to get this done on time. (Thanks again, Tom!) The jungle was modeled by me. All lighting and animation by me. Enjoy.
Shipwrecked on Ninja Island
Back by un-popular demand! We had eight weeks to make this animation and the audio was nailed by week three, yet for some reason we did the bulk of the work on the last day. But at least we got a lot of beer consumed in the meantime...
Remember, a great man once said he never let school get in the way of his education.
The Prodigy vs. Neo-Tokyo
This is the first music video I ever cut and still my favorite. Visuals from the short film "The Running Man" in the larger "Neo-Tokyo". "Speedway" by The Prodigy. Enjoy.
Topzilla
This is the first animation I ever burnt to tape. In anticipation of going out to see a multi-million dollar production by a similar name, I took a homework assignment of animating a top spinning on a table super-sized it. Enjoy.
